Four Artists Paint One Tree

This Disney Documentary from 1958 shows four artists with individual styles and ideas about art, work together on the animated film Sleeping Beauty. They learn to mold their skills and stick to the unified style of the movie, putting their individual ideas aside. To show how different they are in reality, Disney takes four of the animators out to the countryside to paint an Oak tree and has them talk about their approach to painting the old tree.

Sharing this with students will show them how an animation studio like Disney used to work before computer technology, how creative people learn to work as a team, and the painting processes of four distinctly different artists.
